My professor told us to find an exhibition that we liked, and gather information. Once we did that, we were told to create a 3D object that somehow relates to it in someway. I was really intrigued in the Type Director's Club exhibition of the Ascenders of 2018. The Type Directors Club is a world renown establishment that celebrates typography. Every year they hold a competition that finds the "best typography in the world". d
I began with the 3D sculpting program Meshmixer, but wasn't able to manipulate the things I needed. I then tried Sketch Up, the 3D modeling program that is usually used by interior designers and architects. It seemed logical since i'm making type into a structural element that actually has form. Much like Meshmixer, it wasn't the right program; but it was a step in the right direction. I then realized that this person who I followed on Instagram named Simoul Alva (simply a prodigy in graphic design) was experimenting with 3D forms in Adobe Dimensions. I soon found out that Dimensions was the best for my goal and created what you see below.
I was soon addicted to Dimensions and created this (below) for my Mom's birthday.
